IN an unpleasant development as media report said Bangladesh Cricket team captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and middle-order batsman Sabbir Rahman have been fined 20 per cent of their match fees, while England captain Jos Buttler has received an official reprimand for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during their second One-Day International in Mirpur on Sunday. Both Bangladesh players were found to have breached Article 2.1.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon dismissal during an international match. Mr. Buttler was guilty of violating Article 2.1.4, which refers to “using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting, the report said quoting ICC’s media release embodying the ruling of the International Cricket Control body.
The England team of cricketers have come at our invitation despite the bad image of terrorism we helped to grow. Easy killing of suspected terrorists does not end the fear of terrorism. Even then England cricketers are here and the government has ensured full security to them.
According to the report published in the press, the captain of the England team Mr. Buttler was taunted first. It cannot be seen as a light matter. Those who have done so, have disgraced the Bangladesh team and undermined our sense of hospitality. The offenders have been rightly punished.
We are proud of our team for their performance and we want to feel equally happy for the sportsman like behaviour.
