The Jahangirnagar University (JU) authority arranged a discussion meeting on ‘National Mourning Day’ on Thursday observing the 39th martyred anniversary of father of nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman.
The Minister of Post Telecommunication and Information Technology Ministry, Abdul Latif Siddiqui addressed the discussion as chief guest while Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof Dr Farzana Islam was in chair. Addressing the discussion, Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui said that the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman is a symbol where the root of Bangali is entrenched.
‘Bangabandhu made a state revolution by establishing independent state while his daughter Sheikh Hasina is working for social revolution. The revolution will be success by eliminating discrimination from the society and developing the life style of the people’ he added.
Minister also said, Bangabandhu became father of the nation by attracting the people with his charismatic leadership. JU VC Prof Dr Farzana Islam said, ‘The government has taken to make the large population wealth where the existence of Bagabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman is alive’. So we have to come forward to make the Bangabandhu’s dreamed Sonar Bangla, she added.
Conducting by JU Registrar Abu Bakr Siddiq, Professr of JU Government and Politics department Khurshida Begume delivered her speech as the chief speaker while she said, ‘there is no scriptural studies on Bangabandhu though the classical study on political leaders of others countries are available’.
Member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission Prof Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir and Member of Parliament (Dhaka-19) Dr Enamur Rahman addressed the programme as the special guest.
JU Pro-VC Prof Abul Hossain, Treasurer Prof Abul Khair, Dean of Social Science faculty Prof Amir Hossain, Chief of JU Medical Center Dr. ATM Atiqur Rahman, President of JU Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Mahmudur Rahman Joni and Secretary of JU BCL Rajib Ahmed Rasel addressed the programme among others.
