A discussion titled ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh’ was held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Dhaka University (DU) campus.
DU Law Faculty unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) organized the discussion on Thursday marking the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
DU Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the discussion while Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury addressed the function as the chief guest.
All India Trinamool Congress Secretary General and West Bengal Education Minister Shree Phartha Chattopaddhiay addressed the function as the main speaker.
President of DU Law Faculty unit of BCL Sariful Hasan presided over the discussion, attended among others, by DU Law Faculty Dean Rahmat Ullah, former chairman of National Human Rights Commission Professor Mizanur Rahman, BCL Central President Saifur Rahman Sohag, DU unit President Abid Al Hasan and General Secretary Motahar Hossain Prince.
Addressing the function, Arefin Siddique paid rich tribute to Bangabandhu and said he (Bangabandhu) had never compromised with injustice and corruption.
He said Bangabandhu had pursued politics with honesty and freed the country from colonial exploitation.
The DU Vice-Chancellor urged the students to go forward to be imbued with honesty and courage to transform the country into ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Bangabandhu.
