A discussion on ‘Australia Awards Scholarships’ was held at the virtual class room in the academic building of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRU) on Tuesday.
Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association (BRUTA) arranged the event sponsored by the Australian AID to share information on Australian scholarship awards with the teachers of the university, said a press release.
Vice-chancellor of BRU Prof Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah attended the discussion as the chief guest with BRUTA President Prof Dr Gazi Mazharul Anwar in the chair.
More than fifty teachers from different departments of the university participated in the discussion moderated by BRUTA General Secretary Tabiur Rahman.
Programme Manager at Australian High Commission in Dhaka Imam Nahil, Country Programme Manager of Australia Award Bangladesh Luis Jenion and its Scholarship Co-coordinator Kanchon Khisha discussed various aspects of higher education in different Australian universities.
Professor Kalimullah thanked the BRUTA executive body for arranging such a discussion that would definitely enrich knowledge of the university teachers and inspire them in getting higher education from foreign universities.
He also expressed gratitude to the Australian AID and Australian High Commission in Bangladesh for their cooperation in arranging the discussion at BRU.
“We will arrange similar discussions soon for the students of BRU to provide them with necessary knowledge about higher education in foreign universities and scholarship facilities available there,” he added.
