Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) organized a discussion meeting titled “The Historic 07th March Speech of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman” on Monday at Bijoy Auditorium. The discussion meeting was arranged for the acknowledgement of the historic speech by Bangabandhu as ‘National Memory of the World’ from UNESCO and as ‘Poet of Politics’ from Newsweek Magazine.
Noted that, at one stage of the long-running uncompromising movement on 07 March 1971, undisputed leader and the greatest Bangalee of the thousand years, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman proclaimed for freedom in a thunderous voice at a mammoth rally at the Racecourse Maidan (now Suhrawardy Udyan). “Ebarer sangram amader muktir sangram, ebarer sangram swadhinatar sangram [The struggle this time is a struggle for emancipation, the struggle this time is a struggle for independence],”- This enlightened declaration of Bangabandhu was, in fact, the basis of our independence.
The speech of Bangabandhu included on 30 October 2017 in the Memory of the World International Register, a list of world’s important documentary heritage maintained by UNESCO.
Prof Emeritus Dr AK Azad Chowdhury, former UGC Chairman and Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University was present as chief guest and BUP VC Major General Md Salahuddin Miaji, rcds, psc was present as special guest. Dean of Centre for Higher Studies and Research (CHSR) Brig Gen Syed Mofazzel Mawla (Retd) delivered the welcome speech in the programme.
Among others, BUP Pro VC Prof M Abul Kashem Mozumder, PhD, BUP high officials, teachers, officers and students were present in discussion meeting.
