‘Discipline to return in city’s public transport’

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Wednesday said discipline would be restored soon in public transport in the city.
“Discipline in the entire public transport of Dhaka city would restore soon after the bus route rationalization program, to be launched on December 26”, he said.
Taposh said this after the inauguration of the pedestrian crossing bridge at Shankar in the city as part of the weekly regular inspection activities, said a press release. “Minister for Road Transport and Bridges would inaugurate the bus rationalization programme on December 26. So, we are now inspecting the passenger tents, infrastructure development and bus-bay that are being constructed,” he said. Expressing his determination to benefit the people of Dhaka by completing bus route rationalization activities in the entire Green Cluster by next year, Taposh said, “I hope if it is fully implemented by 2022, the people of Dhaka will get the proper benefits.” He requested the people of Dhaka to use all the infrastructures including pedestrian bridges at road crossings.
“We have already taken initiatives to modernize and automate the traffic management with all our intersections”, he said. Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation Farid Ahmed, Air Commodore Sitwat Naeem, Chief Waste Management Officer Saleh Ahmed, Chief Engineer Secretary Akramuzzaman, Chief Health Officer Dr Fazle Shamsul Kabir, Chief Estate Officer Russell Sabrin and Chief Revenue Officer Ariful Haque were present, among others.
