Disaster can cause economic loss if not managed properly

Speakers at a programme said disaster can cause massive damages to lives and properties, resulting in great economic loss to the nation if it is not managed properly.
They made the remarks while addressing a daylong training on dead body management during emergency at Padakkhep Manobik Unnayan Kendra at Baitul Aman Housing Society in city’s Adabor thana.
Members of ward disaster management committee, Ward 29 and 30 of Dhaka North City Corporation took part in the programme on Saturday.
Addressing on the occasion, the speakers called upon city the dwellers to take part in rescue operation to save lives and properties during any disaster.
They stressed on mass awareness about the issue and proper training of local people for facing any disaster.
The participants were imparted practical knowledge on management of victims and goods during disaster.
Save the Children and Community Participation and Development (CPD) jointly organized the programme with support from European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO).
Shukla Tagore and Mushfiqua Mosharef, representatives from Save the Children, and Mohammad Fazlul Hoque and Mohammad Akther Hussain Mithu from CPD attended the function.
Training experts–Sabina Chowdhury and Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Hiron-conducted the training session.
