Director Jhontu files defamation case against Dighi, her family

Popular film director Delwar Jahan Jhontu filed a criminal case against actress Prarthana Fardin Dighi and her father noted film actor Subrata and uncle for the derogatory remarks about his movie Tumi Achho, Tumi Nei. Producer of this film Simi Islam filed a case for compensation of Tk 1 crore against Dighi.
While talking in this regard director Jhontu said, “Tumi Achho, Tumi Nei is my coming film, which will release this Friday. We recently released a three-minute trailer of the movie on social media. The heroine of our movie, Dighi, made offensive comments on social media against the movie. Such comments will hamper positive marketing for the film and as a result target profit will be under risk.”
It is true that Dighi is currently facing lots of trolls and hate comments for the trailer of her movie. Many have commented on the trailer’s official page that they want their mobile data, money back upon watching the trailer. Director Jhontu defended the trailer and saying, “The trailer has been wonderfully done. As an actress, Dighi should not have judged the whole movie based on the three minutes trailer.”
Regarding the case, Jhontu said, “According to my lawyers, Dighi could face at least two years in jail and pay fine in the case.”
The director claimed that he has directed 83 films and no other actress have dared to say anything like that. “An actress like Dighi who has made such negative comment about her first film has truly disheartened me,” he also said. This correspondent also tried to get comment from Dighi but she denied commenting anything in this regard. She only said that she only hopes the best for the movie and that it does well in the cinema halls. Tumi Achho, Tumi Nei starring Dighi will be released in 30 cinema halls across the country on March 12.
