Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Monday ordered the contracting firms to start the construction work of Central Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Savar tannery industrial park within a week.
“If there is any dilly-dally in implementing the order, the responsible persons won’t be spared,” he said.
The Minister said this while addressing a meeting at his ministry in the city.
The minister urged the entrepreneurs to start relocation process of the tanneries from city’s Hazaribagh to Savar.
The meeting was informed that some 82 tannery owners have submitted lay-out plan against their plots. So far, 35 lay-out plans have got approval.
In the meeting, the entrepreneurs were assured that the compensation of Tk 250 crore will be disbursed among them in phases as soon as the relocation process starts.
Environment and Forest Minister Anwar Hossain Manju, industries secretary Md Moinuddin Abudllah, BSCIC chairman Shyemsundar Shikder, director general Environment Directorate, among others, attended the meeting.
