Dipu Chakma clinched the first gold medal for Bangladesh in 13th South Asian (SA) Games at Satdobato in Lalitpur of Nepal on Monday.
Dipu earned gold medal at Poomsae 29kg+ weight category in Taekwondo event.
Dipu Chakma scored 16.24 points beating his opponents from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal to secure first gold medal for the Red and Green outfit. Sri Lanka’s Lakshman IIandarige gained silver scoring 8.22 points, while India’s Gangphung Gangsa collected bronze medal with 8.14 points.
It may be mentioned that Humayra Akhter bagged the first medal for Bangladesh in the 13th South Asian (SA) Games in Nepal on Monday. She clinched the bronze medal at the Women’s Singles Kata event in the Karate Competition. Humayra Akhter became third among the five participants.
Pakistani Karateka clinched gold medal in this event, while athlete from hosts Nepal bagged silver medal.
On the other hand, Hasan Khan of Bangladesh earned bronze medal in this event for men.
