Diplomats, businessmen, former cricketers, political leaders and several others on Monday visited BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia office at Gulshan in the city following the premature death of her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko.
All the visitors could not meet Khaleda Zia due to her illness, as she was in bed rest with sedation. During their visits, they signed on the condolence book kept at the office. They conveyed sympathy to the BNP chairperson and her family members.
Diplomats of Indonesia, UAE, Nepal, Norway, Philippine and Sudan visited the Gulshan office from
afternoon to evening. Chairman of a faction of Jatiya Party Kazi Zafor Ahmed, Islami Oikya Jote chairman Maulana Abdul Latif Nejami also visited the office.
A team of businessman and trade leaders, led by President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) M Atiqul Islam, visited the office in the evening. AK Azad, Anisul Haque, Latifur Rahman, Mir Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Golam Quddus and Rokeya Afzal Rahman are also among the businessmen who were in the team.
Coming out of the office, M Atiqul Islam told the reporters that they would visit the BNP chairperson’s office to express their shock at the death of Arafat Rahman Koko. “We are praying for salvation and eternal peace of the departed soul of Khaleda Zia’s son,” he said.
Before the visit of the business leaders, a team of former cricketers also visited the Gulshan office and signed the on the condolence book. Former director of Bangladesh Cricket Board Khandaker Jamil Uddin and former captains Bangladesh Cricket Team Shafiqul Haque Heera, Akram Khan and Khaleda Masud Pilot are also among the team.
