Time has come to evaluate the performance of the men and women who are sent abroad attaching to our foreign missions in a bid to play the role of diplomats. There was a time when it is used to be said that job of a diplomat is lying for the country’s good. Those days are gone. Nowadays, the countries have their own ambassadors and there are international agencies like the UNO, Amnesty International, the World Bank, IMF and many others to know the truth about another country. Heads of government can talk directly also.
A section in the government is trying to blame our diplomats abroad for not having the competence to project rightly about human rights condition of the country. Otherwise the US government would not clamped sanction on some high officials of the law enforcing agencies blaming gross human rights violation like unlawful killings, enforced disappearances, etcetera.
The competence is no criterion for choosing people in high positions is normal. The people are chosen for sycophancy in return of their efficiency for lying.
Some of the ministers’ public utterances are proof enough that they cannot talk in civilised language. The government’s success is best measured in faulty mega projects for sustaining support through unchecked corruption. The government has been successful in treating people as fools and we rightly deserve so for the unscrupulous educated people. The government knows very well about our educated people how easily they can be bought to use against the people.
We have been denied our voting rights to choose our government, and not to speak about assurance of life and liberty.
The elections are held under the control of the sitting government but under an rubber stamp Election Commission the elections are organised with great deal of fanfare. Thus we are so dumb that the government claims they do not know how to steal elections.
The government changed the Constitution not to have a neutral government during the elections. The administration including police are openly used through bribing to attain election victory for the government. The government knows what will be their pathetic end if they are not being in government for the corrupt ones to ensure its continuance. Nobody believes this government could be unseated by people through elections where they cannot exercise their voting rights.
Not to allow free elections is the denial of all human rights. The people’s human rights are destroyed by not allowing the people to elect their government.
The election thieves are not believed anywhere. An unelected government can be blackmailed easily. So some countries are now taking full advantage. The unfinished mega projects are standing as high examples of how costs are going up without assurance when the projects will be finished. The mismanagement of the government is not unknown to the foreign countries. The government is hiding its head under sand like ostrich in the belief that others cannot see it as what it is.
We are, bound to accept that we are fools and stupids. Our educated people are purchasable. But it will not help the government to think that the other governments are also fools and free to accept lies of our diplomats. The image of the country is a shame. Only consolation for the government is fearfulness of the ordinary people and whatever happens, the government will not face free election.
So do not blame the government’s own diplomats when it has nothing to show for own competence.
