Dinajpur Online School started its operation on Wednesday.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Advocate Mostafizur Rahman formally inaugurated the school, said a press release. Dinajpur Online School, situated at Shundarbon village of Dinajpur Sadar upazila, has now 40 students in its reception class.
In the Online School, teachers take the class remotely through videoconferencing technology while it is supported by on-sight moderators.
Grameenphone and JAAGO Foundation are operating 10 Online Schools around the country with the help of Agni Systems Ltd which provides last mile connectivity.
Sayed Talat Kamal, Head of External Communications; Partha Pratim Bhattacharjee, Head of Bogra Region of Grameenphone, and Korvi Rakshand, Founder of JAAGO Foundation, were present on the occasion.
The first Online School started its operation in August, 2011 with 80 students in Gazipur district. Today, there are 693 students in 10 schools located in Gazipur, Gaibandha, Rajshahi, Madaripur, Bandarban, Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Habiganj and Laxmipur. The school follows English version of national curriculum. Grameenphone and JAAGO Foundation have been working to establish Online School as a model for providing quality education in Bangladesh by using information technology.
