Digitization creates scope of employment, income generation

At present 300 pilot projects are being implemented across the country by 35 ministries and directorates under the innovative projects of Access to Information programme that has already brought a significant dynamism in public administration.
The ongoing digitization process had also created scope of employment and income generation in various ways including outsourcing, selling products through e-shop and offering different services at the Union Information Service Centres.
The observations came at a day-long seminar on Innovation Circle of Rajshahi division held at the conference hall of Circuit House in the city Saturday.
Divisional commissioner’s office, cabinet division and A2I project of prime minister’s office organized the seminar in association with UNDP and USAID.
Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan and Senior Secretary to the Home Ministry Dr Mozammel Haque Khan addressed the programme as chief and special guests respectively with Helaluddin Ahmed, Commissioner of Rajshahi division, in the chair.
Earlier, speaking about the objectives of this seminar Capacity Development specialist of A2I Programme Manik Mahmud said that the objectives of A2I programme is to reach various services of the government through digital innovation to the people.
He disclosed that this innovation program was first launched in 2014 to sensitize the people and now the second phase is running for capacity building.
Mahmud told the seminar that the problem of funding of innocvation projects had been removed for their expedited implementation, he added. About seventy participants including high officials of various departments of the eight districts were present.
Divisional Commissioner Helaluddin Ahmed presented a paper on ‘Innovation Practice in Public Administration: Divisional Leadership and Overall Progress’. In power points, all the eight District Innovation Officers also highlighted their respective implementation and coordination progress in innovation circle.
The Cabinet Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan thanked the organizer for the laudable programme and informed that the innovation programmes have increased in the public sector. The innovation projects developed by the eight districts of Rajshahi division were presented in the seminar. The participating districts were Rajshahi, Chapainawabgonj, Natore, Nawgaon, Bogra, Joypurhat, Pabna and Sirajganj.
Open discussion and suggestions were made on the innovation activities and advancement of digital technology to ensure services to the people.
