‘Digitisation leading Bangladesh towards middle income nation’

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga has said the digitisation process has been progressing fast leading Bangladesh towards a middle income nation.
He was addressing launching ceremony of the two-day Digital Innovation Fair-2014 being organised by Gangachara upazila administration at Gangachara upazila parishad premises here on Saturday as the chief guest.
With Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tauhidul Islam in the chair, Gangachara upazila chairman and valiant freedom fighter Majibar Rahman Pramanik addressed the ceremony as the special guest.
Gangachara upazila vice-chairman Khairul Alam Babu and Officer-in-Charge of Gangachara Thana Abdul Mannan addressed the ceremony, among others.
The upazila administration, UISCs, government departments, NGOs and educational institutions have set up 30 stalls in the fair displaying success achieved in the process of digitization to provide services to peoples’ doorsteps in a hassle-free manner.
The State Minister the government has launched the epoch-making A2I Programme for reaching services to people’s doorsteps through the Union Information Service Centres (UISCs) using the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The UISCs are playing effective role in providing digitised e- education, e-agriculture, e-health, e-governance, e-medicine, e- employment, e-purjee, other e-services making life easier and accelerating uplift in building a middle income nation, Ranga said.
He said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for building a corruption-free, prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh through digitisation at all levels to make independence meaningful for every citizen.
He hoped that the fair would play vital role in sensitizing and bridging the people with the ICT, rights to information, learning and getting available government services to realize the Vision 2021 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Meanwhile, hundreds of people, mostly the youths and students, have been thronging the fair with huge enthusiasm and showing deep interests in internet browsing and getting information and e-services using laptops, various digital devices and ICT there.
Ranga also visited the Economic Empowerment Project activities in Dhamur area and ‘One House One Farm’ project in village Bollarpar, handed over ambulance to Upazila Health Complex, attended upazila law and order and development coordination meeting.
