Digital lab to enhance ICT skills stressed

Speakers underscored proper utilisation of the digital laboratories in the educational institutions to enhance knowledge and skill of the young generations in the information and communication technologies (ICT).
Government officials came up with the opinion yesterday at a views-sharing meeting on ‘Ensuring Proper Utilisation, Security and Maintenance of the Sheikh Rassel Digital Lab’ held at conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in Rangpur.
The district administration organised the meeting with assistance of the ICT Division under the ‘Establishment of Computer and Language Lab in Educational Institutions all over the country’ Project.
Officials of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary
Education, Upazila Nirbahi Officers, Principals, Headmasters, Superintendents
and Heads of 45 educational institutions, ICT teachers and student
representatives attended the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wahiduzzaman attended the meeting as the
chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Ruhul
Amin Mian in the chair.
Deputy Director (System and Training) of the Department of Information
and Communication Technology Md Rabiul Islam addressed the meeting as the
special guest.

delivered welcome speech narrating the objectives of the meeting as well as
tremendous importance of the Sheikh Russel Digital Labs at educational
institutions.
District Education officer Roksana Begum and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi
Officer Ziaur Rahman also spoke.
Rabiul Islam said each of the labs are equipped with adequate number of
laptops, a printer, a scanner, a multi-media projector, two routers and
equipment for creating ample scope for the students in language learning
under the project.
“Side by side with enhancing ICT skills of the students, the labs will
provide training on nine different languages, including English and other
foreign languages, contributing toward increasing their earnings from
outsourcing jobs,” he said.
The chief guest called upon authorities of the educational institutions
and ICT teachers for ensuring best utilisation of the Sheikh Rassel Digital
Labs to educate the students on easy use of internet and learn different
languages to enhance their ICT skills.
“The ICT teachers should conduct classes following the modern digitised
teaching methodologies so that the students could easily understand lessons,
enhance skills and knowledge,” he added.
