The promoted ICT- based modern multimedia classroom has opened up a new dimension in teaching-learning system of the educational institutions.
The digital contents in the multimedia classroom have emerged as a tool for the students to come out of memorising knowledge ending a more-than-a-century- old traditional teacher centred learning system.
Under the newly introduced students’ participatory system to teach students using the digital contents, the students have been preparing their home task in the classroom after visualising, listening and holding discussion on the topic with other students at the multimedia classroom set up in some of the schools and colleges across the country.
While visiting a multimedia classroom of Rajshahi city’s PN Girls High School recently it was found that nearly 35 students of class ten looked curious in a science class as they awaited lesson through a visual projection of their topic.
Teacher Rawshan Ara entered the classroom at 10 am to take her class on the topic. She put his finger on the keyboard of a laptop to display visual pictures on the screen of the electronic projector in support of her lecture on the topic.
“We have also learned the techniques of how to prepare class content,” said Nusrat Mehjabin, a student of the class.
Shahara Khatun, Headmaster of the school said, it’s an exceptional experience for the students as learning from digital contents stimulates their enjoyment of learning and that engages them in ways that encourage and feed their thirst for knowledge.
“Teachings in the multimedia classrooms have been pushing the pupils out of shackle of memorising their lessons and they have been completing their lessons in their classes,” she added.
