A Dhaka court fixed April 5 for the next testimony in a graft case against suspended deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman and suspended ACC director Khandaker Enamul Basir.
Judge Sheikh Nazmul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court 4 set the new date. 11 witnesses out of the total 17 have so far testified in the case.
Earlier in the day, the accused were produced before the court. However, as the witness of the case did not appear in the court, the ACC applied for time. The court then set the new date for the next testimony.
The court framed charges in the case against the two accused on March 18 last year.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayes on February 9 accepted the charge-sheet and transferred the case for further proceedings to Dhaka Special Judge Court 4.
ACC Director Sheikh Mohammad Fanafilya on January 19 filed the charge-sheet against the duo for allegedly leaking information and taking bribes. The anti-graft body on July 16, 2019, filed the case with its Dhaka district coordination office 1 under the Money Laundering Prevention Act.
Both the officials were suspended from their respected agencies after the allegations of taking and giving bribes were lodged against them.
Mizanur leaked a couple of audio clips, saying he has given Tk 40 lakh as bribe to Khandaker Enamul Basir to suppress the graft allegations brought against him.
