The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has interrogated suspended Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Mizanur Rahman at the gate of Keraniganj Central Jail in Dhaka.
The commission quizzed the police official for three hours from 12:00pm to 3:00pm on Tuesday, Jailer Mahbub Islam said.
An ACC probe team led by its Director Monzur Morshed interrogated him about giving Tk 40 lakh to ACC Director Khandaker Enamul Basir-who was suspended later-to escape from corruption charges brought against him.
Earlier on August 15, another three-member ACC team interrogated Mizanur Rahman at jail gate on charges of giving bribe.
A 3-member team of the anti-graft body led by its Director Sheikh Md Fanafillah questioned DIG Mizan at Dhaka Central Jail gate in Keraniganj, said ACC public relation officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.
Earlier, ACC interrogated DIG Mizan’s bodyguard Redoy Hasan and driver Saddam Hossain on July 7 and his office staff Sumon on
June 26 over giving Tk 40 lakh to suspended ACC Director Khandaker Enamul Basir as bribe.
On July 11, Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Dhaka Senior Special Judges’ Court allowed the ACC to interrogate DIG Mizanur at jail gate on July 15 after ACC Director Sheikh Md Fanafillah submitted a petition seeking permission to interrogate him.
On July 2, the same court sent him to jail after rejecting his bail petition in a case filed against him on charges of amassing over Tk three crore beyond his known sources of income.
