Difficult to defend that total: Shakib

Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan said it’s always difficult to defend such a total after a revised target of 91 runs was set for West Indies due to rain in the first T20I in St Kitts on Wednesday.
The Tigers were restricted to just 143 runs after rain had delayed start of the West Indies chase by an hour which reduced the target for the Caribbean to 91 runs in 11 overs.
Shakib said they lost early wickets and failed to get momentum in the match.
The two Tiger openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar went back to the pavilion early without disturbing the scoreboard. Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das started the recovery but they too fell in consecutive deliveries in the last over of the Power play, leaving Bangladesh in deep trouble.
The Bangladesh captain speaking after the match said it was always difficult to defend that total. He said they lost some wickets at a crucial stage and despite the early loss he and Liton had a good partnership but they failed to stretch the innings losing both the wickets in the last over of the Powerplay.
The ace all-rounder said there was a good partnership between Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah, however, when Mushfiq lost his wicket in a crucial stage they failed to fight back in the match.
Shakib said 170 to 180 runs is a dependable total in this ground and they were 25 to 30 runs short that made it difficult for them to come back in the match.
