Back in 2012 when Kahaani had released, the film had opened to Rs 3 crore on Friday.
However, it had enjoyed very good word of mouth and its weekend had closed at Rs 15 crore. Now in 2016 when Kahaani 2 has released and opened to Rs 4.25 crore, the weekend is Rs 16.75 crore.
This is better than Kahaani though if one compares with the hike in ticket rates over last four years, there isn’t much of a difference.
Nonetheless, considering the fact that response to sequels/franchise affairs has been largely terrible in 2016, it is still a relief of sorts that Kahaani 2 has at least done decent business.
