Diarrhoea breaks out in flood-hit dists

The cases of diarrhoea have marked a rise in flood-hit districts of the country, official sources said.
According to data provided by the National Health Crisis Management Center and Control Room of the Director General of Health Services (DGHS), nearly 5,000 diarrhoeal cases were reported over the last seven days in the flood-affected districts.
The waterborne disease broke out in almost all the flood-hit districts as doctors and nurses treated about 21,000 patients across the country in September alone with one death.
The disease broke out in all the flood-affected areas, largely in 18 districts-Narayanganj, Gazipur, Comilla, Khagrachhari, Cox’s Bazar, Pabna, Bogra, Joypurhat, Naogoan, Dinajpur, Bandarban, Thakurgaon, Jessore, Jhenaidah, Narail, Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha and Sylhet.
The official data reveal that 1,878 people were affected with diarrhoea in Narayanganj in September while 1, 442 in Gazipur, 2,502 in Comilla, 1,945 in Cox’s Bazar, 1,102 in Bogra, 2,576 in Naogoan, 1,862 in Bandarban, 1,366 in Jessore and 1,637 in Gaibandha.

of the Health Directorate, Dr Ayesha Akhter told UNB that 1,651 medical teams have been working in the flood-hit areas to provide healthcare to the affected people.
This year millions of flood-affected people in northern and southeastern districts of the riverine country, including Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha, Cox’s Bazar and Bandanban. Official sources said the government, private and social organisations distributed water purification tablets and medicines among the flood-hit people.
The data of the National Health Crisis Management Centre and Control Room showed that about three lakh people have been affected with the waterborne disease so far this year in the districts while nine people died.
Among them, 22,601 people have been affected with the disease in Narayanganj while 14,229 in Gazipur, 19,312 in Comilla, 27,501 in Khagrachhari, 16,923 in Cox’s Bazar, 5,920 in Pabna, 10,568 in Bogra, 6282 in Joypurhat, 24,123 in Naogoan, 4,609 in Dinajpur, 6,418 in Bandarban, 6,132 in Thakurgaon, 13,467 in Jessore, 5656 in Jhenaidah, 3373 in Narail, 2637 in Lalmonirhat, 2906 in Gaibandha and 6467 in Sylhet.
