Members of Border Guard Bangladesh recovered Diamond jewelry worth about Tk 70 lakh along Laxmidari border in Sadar upazila recently.
Lt Col Sarder Md Mostafizur Rahman, commanding officer of battalion -38 of BGB briefed reproters over the recovery at a press briefing held at its headquarters around 9:00am on Sunday.
He said, BGB members recovered 97 pieces of diamond finger rings, 20 pieces of pendants and 50 pieces of nose pins from sub pillar 2/3 of the main pillar no. 3 along Laxmidari border on February 5.
Md Mostafizur said the big consignment of diamond ornaments was smuggled into the country from India and sensing presence of BGB members smugglers fled abandoning the jewelry.
