The seminar on ‘Diabetes and Dietary Habit’ organized by the American International University -Bangladesh recently. The program was held With a view to observe the world diabetes day 2015, says a press release.
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Charles Villanueva addressed the program and chaired by Prof Dr Tazul Islam, Dean and Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences. Chief Guest was Brig. Gen. (Rtd.) Md Abdul Majid Bhuiyan, Director (Hospital), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
World Diabetes Day is the primary global awareness campaign of the diabetes world and is held on November 14 each year. The International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization in response to the alarming rise of diabetes around the world introduced it in 1991.
The special attractions of the seminar were the seminar speakers Akhtarun Nahar (Nutritionist, BIRDEM) who spoke in Diabetes and Dietary Habits and Dr Md Abdur Rahim (Diabetic Specialist and Epidemiologist) who spoke on Prevention of type 2diabetes.
The event is expected to contribute a lot in creating awareness among the diabetic patients as well as spreading consciousness among others.
