The Dhaka Zone qualifiers of the First Security Islami Bank National School Hockey Tournament begins today (Tuesday) at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium here.
In the opening match, Zinzira PM Pilot High School will face Motijheel Govt. Boy’s High School.
Twenty-one school teams, split into six groups, are taking part in the zonal phase of the qualifiers. Later, the six group champions will qualify for the final round.
Addressing a press conference at the Hockey Federation conference room on Monday, tournament secretary ANM Mamunur Rashid said champions of seven of the 11 zonal qualifiers have already qualified for the final round which is expected to start in the first week of the next month (March).
Head of Marketing of the meet’s sponsor First Security Islami Bank Azam Khan and Adviser of ATN Bangla Mir Motahar Hasan were present on the occasion.
