Dhaka WASA has signed a contract with four NGOs to provide legal water to the Low Income Community (LIC) of Sattola slum of Mohakhali in the city on Wednesday.
Engr Taqsem A Khan, Managing Director of Dhaka WASA and representatives from Dustha Shasthya Kendra(DSK), Nagar Sheba, NDBUS and Bangladesh Association for Social Advancement (BASA) signed the contract.
Under the contract 8000 families will be benefited by legal water connection, says a press release.
Engr Taqsem A Khan, Managing Director of Dhaka WASA in his speech said that Dhaka WASA is committed to provide legal water connection to all the slums of Dhaka city by December 2015.
DWASA has received Water Leaders Award-2013 at the Global Water Summit held in Seville, Spain last year for its success in providing legal water to low income community in the capital, he said.
Engr Khan informed that $11,000 which DWASA received as award will be spent for providing water to low income community of Sattola slum.
