Dhaka WASA, CPP sign deal to reduce system loss

In order to reduce Non-Revenue Water (NRW) or system loss, Dhaka WASA signs a contract with China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Company Limited (CPP) today on 09 May, 2018 at Pan Pacific Hotel Sonargaon. The contract is signed aiming to rehabilitate a total of 457 kilometers water pipelines at Tk 389.28 crores, which include 13 District Metered Areas (DMA) under the areas of Zone- 09 (Uttara) in the capital.
Chaired by Dhaka WASA Managing Director & CEO Engr. Taqsem A Khan, Additional Chief Engineer cum Project Director of Dhaka Water Supply Network Improvement Project (DWSNIP) Md Akhtaruzzaman and on behalf of CPP its General Manager Mr. Dong Xue signed the contract from their respective part.
Among others, Dhaka WASA Board Chairman Prof. Md. Habibur Rahman, CPP Vice President Mr. Xue Feng, Local Govt. Division’s Additional Secretary Mahbubul Alam, DWASA Director (Development) Abul Kashem and other officials were present.
 As per contract the water pipelines installation is scheduled to be completed by 1000 days next. Financed by Asian Development Bank (ADB), Dhaka WASA, first of all in South Asia, is implementing modern water supply management technology, which is called DMA system, through changing all the water pipelines of the city dividing the city into a total of 145 DMAs, of which 47 DMA have already been completed. The aforesaid 13 DMA implementation are the part of that mission.
