Dhaka Tutorial School clinched the Joyjatra Premier League (JPL) School Cricket title defeating Metropolitan School by 62 runs in the final at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.
Electing to bat first, Dhaka Tutorial School piled up a mammoth total of 124 for the loss of two wickets in the stipulated six overs.
In reply, Metropolitan School scored 62 for the loss of four wickets in six overs.
Rakib of Dhaka Tutorial School hammered a hurricane 98 from 22 balls.
Sohel of Dhaka Tutorial School grabbed three wickets for 30 runs.
Rakib of Dhaka Tutorial School was adjudged the Man of the Final and also was adjudged the Man of the Tournament.
Dhaka Tutorial School, the champions of the cricket competition were awarded Tk 50,000 while Metropolitan School, the runners-up of the meet were given Tk 25,000 as prize-money.
After the final match, President of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Hassan Papon distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest while Chairman of ATN Bangla and ATN News Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team Shafiqul Haque Heera, Chairman of the Media Committee of BCB Jalal Yunus, Director of BCB Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, Director of BCB Md Ismail Haidar Mallick, CEO of BCB Nizam Uddin Ahmed Sujan, Managing Director of East-Asia Group and Bangla Tissue Shahidul Islam, noted industrialist Imtiaz Sultan Johny were with him as special guests.’
Chairman of the Tournament Committee Mir Motahar Hossain, Secretary of the Tournament Committee Shafiqul Islam Shamim were also present at the time.
Chairperson of Joyjatra Foundation Helena Jahangir presided over the prize-giving ceremony.
