The Damdama Bridge on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway will remain closed to the tratic for eight hours from 10:00pm on August 12 (the day of Eid-ul-Azha) for maintenance work.
Drivers have been asked to use Rangpur (terminal)-
Badarganj- Madhyapara- Mithapukur route instead of Dhaka (Mirpur)-Uthuli-Kashinathpur-Bogura-Banglabandha highway, according to a press release of Rangpur Roads and Highways Department.
The maintenance work will take place in the central Rangpur and Mithapukur, the press release said.
Meanwhile, train services on The Dhaka-Gaibandha section resumed on Thursday, after 22 days of closure due to flood. The reopening of the railway communication will bring a sigh of relief for the goers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The ‘Lalmoni Express’ from Dhaka reached Bonarpara Railway Station in Gaibandha around 9:00am, confirmed Station Master Mahbubur Rahman.
Dhaka’s railway link with eight northern districts via Gaibandha was suspended on July 17 as flood water washed away soil and stone under rail line at Badiakhali in the district, leaving it risky for train movement.
