Khelaghar beat Prime Bank in last-ball thriller

Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity beat Prime Bank Cricket Club by two wickets in the last-ball thriller in the Walton Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League at BKSP ground-3 in Savar on Sunday.
With the day’s feat, Khelaghar SKS shared the 2nd slot in the 12-team league jointly with Legend of Rupganj securing 14 points each playing 11 and 10 matches respectively, but in the net run rate Legend Rupganj are in the 2nd slot and Khelaghar SKS in the 3rd place after league leader Abahani Limited, which bagged 16 points from 11 encounters.
They also earned the right to play in the Super League for the first time.
Batting first, Prime Bank CC scored fighting total of 261 runs for all in 49.5 overs featuring 85 runs in the 3rd wicket stand by two down Al Amin and opener Mehrab Hossain Jr.
Al Amin contributed 94 runs off 96 balls hitting 10 fours and three sixes while Mehrab Hossain Jr scored patient 78-ball 37 runs with one over boundary, number five Nahidul Islam added 27-ball 28 runs, including four hits to the fence, tail-ender Shariful Islam scored 15-ball 22 runs with three sixes and Monir Hossain made run-a-ball 21 with two fours.
Mohammad Saddam grabbed four wickets for 58 runs while Tanvir Islam claimed three for 28 while Robiul Islam Robi took two for 25 runs.
In reply, Khelaghar SKS reached their target scoring 263 runs for 8 in the last ball of the 50th over.
One down Amit Majumder contributed 99-ball 71 runs featuring seven boundaries and was adjudged the man of the match.
Khelaghar SKS needed 12 runs in the last over and Masum Khan scored the match-winner hitting a boundary in the last ball of the match taken by Delwar Hossain after making 2,4,2,4 runs in the last four balls.
Besides, number five Al Menaria scored 63 off 57 balls with seven fours, two down Rafsan Al Mahmud made 40 off 51 balls with six fours, Masum Khan scored not out 36 runs off 23 balls hitting two fours and one six while Mahiudul Islam made 24-ball 21 runs with one six.
Shariful Islam picked up four wickets for 50 runs while Nahidul Islam and Eanamul Haque Junior took one wicket each.
Shanto leads Abahani to victory

Nazmul Hossain Shanto blasted 120-ball off 150-run as Abahani Limited beat Shinepukur Cricket Club by 56 runs in a eleventh round matches of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Sunday at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
The left-handed batsman Shanto hit nine boundaries and equal number of over boundaries and during the process he shared 185-run second wicket stand with Saif Hasan as Abahani amassed a massive total of 335 for 4 from their allotted 50 overs.
Saif was unlucky as he fell victim of nervous ninety before composing a polish 94-run off 114-ball that studded with seven boundaries and four over boundaries, after Shinepukur put Abahani to bat first.
Later skipper Nasir Hossain made a quick fire 24-ball off 45-run to take Abahani over 300 runs land mark.Mohammad Saifuddin and Naeem Islam Jr. shared two Abahani’s wickets conceding 50 and 73 runs respectively.
Chasing a huge target of 336-runs set by Abahani, Shinepukur also gave a strong reply rode on 125-run strong opening stand by their two openers Fardeen Hasan Ony (104) and Shadman Islam (56), but eventually they were restricted at 279 FOR 3 in 50 overs.
Opener Fardeen backed to the pavilion being retired hurt while Nasir sent back to other opener Shadman.
Towhid Hridoy however offered some resistance with a fighting 72-ball off 83-run but it merely reduced the defeat margin.
Speedster Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was the pick of Abahani bowlers as he claimed two wickets conceding 35 runs.
Nazmul Hossain Shanto of Abahani was named the player of the match for his impressive batting performance.
Mahedi sets up Gazi’s victory

Defending champions Gazi Group Cricketers continued their winning spree when they registered a four-wickets victory over Prime Dholeshwar Sporting Club in a eleventh round matches of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on Sunday.
Chasing a paltry winning target of 187-run, Gazi Group reached home making 189 for the loss of six wickets at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in the city.
Gazi Group lost too many wickets during the chase but opener Mahedi Hasan (59), Fawad Alam (46) and Jaker Ali (31 n.o) secured Gazi’s victory with 67 balls to spare. Pakistani recruit Zohaib Khan was the pick of Dholeshwar bowler as he grabbed five wickets conceding 34 runs.
Earlier, Doleshwar were restricted at a small total of 186 for 9 in 50 overs, after they were asked to bat first by Gazi.
Fazle Mahmud top scored with 65 runs followed by Marshall Ayub (28) and Imtiaz Hossain (24). Fawad Alam was the most successful bowler as he claimed three Doleshwar’s wickets giving away 39 runs.
He was well supported by Tipu Sultan who bagged two wickets conceding 33. Mahedi Hasan of Gazi Group was named the player of the match for his impressive batting performance.
