Junaid sets up Brothers’ big win

Opener Junaid Siddique smashed 111-ball off 123-run as Brothers Union Club crushed Kalabagan Krira Chakra by 131 runs in the eighth round match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Thursday at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Brothers Union Club amassed a huge total of 317 for 4 from their stipulated 50 overs, after Kalabagan put Brothers Union to bat first.
The left-handed opener Junaid hit 16 boundaries and two over boundaries and during the process he shared 209-run second wicket stand with Myshukur Rahman who fell four runs short from hundred. Myshukur hit six boundaries and three over boundaries during his 121-ball stay on the crease.
Abul Hasan, Muktar Ali and Mahmudul Hasan took one Brothers’ wicket each.
In reply, Kalabagan found the chase stiff and cheaply dismissed at a paltry total of 186 in 45 overs with Muktar Ali top scored with unbeaten 62 runs followed by opener Tasamul Haque (44) and Akbar-ur-Rehman (35).
Sohrawordi Shuvo was the pick of Brothers Union’s bowler as he grabbed three Kalabagan’s wickets conceding 39 runs. H was well supported by Mehedi Hasan Rana and Shakhawat Hossain who both took two wickets equal 31 runs each.
Junaid of Brothers Union was named the player of the match for his magnificent batting performance.

Shadman leads Shinepukur 8-wicket win

Opener Shadman Islam hit a match-winning unbeaten knock of 144-run as Shinepuklur Cricket Club registered an overwhelming eight-wicket victory over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the eighth round match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Thursday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.
The 22-year left handed batsman Shadman hit nine boundaries and two over boundaries as Shinepukur chase down the target of 263 for the loss of two wickets with nine balls to spare.
Touhid Hriday also provided an ample support during the Shinepukur’s chase with a well composed unbeaten 50.
Sohag Gazi and Robiul Haque shared one Shinepukur’s wicket each conceding 46 and 49 runs respectively.
Earlier favored by coin, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club scored a competitive total of 262 for all in 49.5 overs courtesy half centuries by Ziaur Rahman (79) and Hasanuzzaman (61).
Abdul Gaffar, Shuvagata Hom, Mohammad Saifuddin and Sujon Hawlader all shared two Sheikh Jamal’s wicket conceding 14,48,56 and 57 runs respectively.
Shadman Islam of Shinepukur was named the player of the match for his match-winning knock.

Naim stars of Rupganj emphatic victory

Robiul Islam Robi’s magnificent century went to vain as Legend of Rupganj recorded an overwhelming six-wicket victory over Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity in the eighth round of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Thursday at BKSP ground in Savar.
Opted to bat first after winning the toss, Khelaghar scored a challenging total of 259 for 4 from their allotted 50 overs.
Robi scored 116-run off 138-ball laced with 13 boundaries and one over boundary and during the process he also shared 182-run second wicket stand with Mahidul Islam who composed 80-run off 125-ball that included six boundaries and two over boundaries.
Asif Hasan, Mohammad Shahid, Mosharraf Hossain and Mohammad Sharif all shared one Khelaghar’s wicket each.
In reply, Rupganj chase down the target making 261 for the loss of four wickets in 21 balls to spare.
Mohammad Naim top scored with 82 runs and shared 144-run third wicket stand with his kipper Naeem Islam who chipped away 70 run, after the two Rupganj openers -Abdul Mazid (41) and Salahuddin Pappu (35) – gave Rupganj a solid start contributing 78-run for the opening stand.
Rafsan Al Mahmud and AL Menaria shared two Rupganj wickets conceding 35 and 46 runs respectively.
Naim of Rupganj was named the player of the match for his impressive batting performance.
