Dhaka -Moscow to set up a joint venture company for petroleum

Dhaka has offered Moscow to set up a joint venture company to work in the mining and petroleum sector to share the Russian experience in the sector.
State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid made this offer when Russian Ambassador Alexander Iqnatov on Thursday met him at his ministry office at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
Bangladesh’s state-owned Bapex and Russia’s state-owned Gazprom can set up the joint venture company, according to a statement issued by Power and Energy Ministry. Gazprom remained engaged in Bangladesh for last few years in drilling operation in different gas fields as a contractor of Bapex.
Last July, Gazprom won a contract for drilling of five wells-Srikail-4 under Bapex, Bakhrabad-10 under Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL) and Rashidpur- 9, 10 and 12 for $96.229 million.
