The Walton 1st Dhaka Metropolis Football Tournament kicks-off on July 27 at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur.
Dhaka Metropolis Football League Committee will arrange the football competition.
Walton Group is the title sponsor of the football tournament, while Minister Fridge High-Tech Limited is the co-sponsor of the meet.
A total of 12 teams splitting into four groups are taking part in the football meet.
Tangail Football Academy, Dr Wazed Miah Krira Chakra, Asaduzzaman Football Academy are in Group-A, Mansoor Sporting Club, Shantinagar Club, Araf Sporting Club are in Group-B, Azampur Football Club of Uttara, Mir Hajirbagh Sporting Club, BFF Under-16 XI are in Group-C, BKSP, Rainbow Athletic Club, Narinda Junior Lions Club are in Group-D.
Top one team from each group will get tickets of the semi-finals.
The winners of the two semi-finals will face each other in the final on August 10.
The two semi-finals and the final will be held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Regarding the forthcoming football tournament, a press conference was held at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation House on Saturday.
Chairman of the Dhaka Metropolis Football League Committee and Secretary of Youth and Sports Bangladesh Awami League Harunur Rashid, Operative Director (Head of Sports & Welfare Department) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, Chairman & CEO of Minister Fridge High-Tech Limited MA Razzak Khan, Chairman of the Tournament Committee of the Walton 1st Dhaka Metropolis Football Tournament Saleh Zaman Selim, Secretary of the Tournament Committee Mazharul Islam Tuhin, Deputy Chairman of the Third Division Football League Committee Md Enamul Haque Abul were present at the conference.
The champions of the tournament will be awarded Taka one lakh, while the runners-up will get Taka fifty thousand.
