Rakib and Rabby’s unbeaten centuries helped Dhaka Metro to take a massive 408-run lead against Dhaka Division South after the 2nd day in a three-day match of the Young Tigers Under-18 National Cricket Competition at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday.
In the day’s match, Dhaka Metro resumed the 2nd innings (110 runs in the first innings) overnight 16 for 2 in 9 overs and eventually scored 336 for 4 at stumps in 99 overs, by virtue of an unbeaten 5th wicket stand of 265 runs in 69.4 overs, contributed by two centurions Rakib and Rabby Hasan.
Rakib hit an unbeaten 152 runs off 225 balls with 16 fours and a six while Rabby Hasan made another unbeaten century scoring 108 runs off 200 balls with 10 fours and a six.
Earlier, on the first day Monday, replying to Dhaka Metro 110 runs in the first innings, Dhaka Division South in their first innings scored just 38 runs for 9 in 22 overs. Wicket keeper cum number seven batsman Swad Sadmani’s injury caused him to retire hurt.
In the other match, Rangpur Division took a 96-run lead against Dhaka Division north at Cox’s Bazar-2.
On the 2nd day, replying to Rangpur’s 161 runs in the first innings, Dhaka Division North resumed their first innings overnight 90 for 3, and gradually scored 167 for 9 in stipulated 90 overs.
Rangpur Division opened their 2nd innings and scored 102 runs for 2 at stumps in 54 overs on the 2nd day. Shakil Islam Shobuz and Abu Hammam and were batting on 51 and 10 runs respectively.
