Women's Handball: Dhaka makes flying start beating Gopalganj by 16-2 goals

Dhaka DSA made a flying start in the Exim Bank 25th National Women’s Handball Championship outplaying Gopalganj DSA by 16-2 goals in the inaugural match at the Shaheed (Capt) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Vice President of Bangladesh Olympic Association Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, who is also the President of Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation, inaugurated the 18-team meet, organized by Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF)
Chaired by BHF President AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul, the inaugural function also attended by Deputy Managing Director of the meet’s sponsor Exim Bank Ehsan-ul- Haque, BHF Vice-presidents Kazi Mahtabuddin Ahmed, Kamrun Nahar Dana and general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor.
In the day’s other matches at the Handball Stadium, Bangladesh Ansar defeated Jessore by 24-8 goals, BJMC outplayed Kishoreganj 27-1 and Dhaka DSA beat Lalmonirhat 21-6 in the morning while Naogaon defeated Jessore 13-6 in the afternoon.
At the Dhanmondi Sultana Kamal Women’s Sports Complex, Dinajpur beat Meherpur 15-2, Bangladesh Police defeated Nilphamari 12-3, Panchagarh crushed Jamalpur 29-0 in the morning while Kushtia outplayed Meherpur 16-0, Narail beat Nilphamari 13-5 and Satkhira trounced Jamalpur 15-0 in the afternoon.
A total of 18 teams, divided into six groups, are taking part in the meet.
The participating teams are: Bangladesh Ansar & VDP, BJMC, Bangladesh Police, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Naogaon, Faridpur, Lalmonirhat, Jessore, Kishoregong, Gopalganj, Kushtia, Narail, Sathkira, Meherpur, Nilphamari and Jamal DSAs.
