‘Dhaka International Poets Summit 2018’ was held on January 31 at Experimental Theater Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka (National Academy of Fine and Performing Arts). Hosted by KATHAK, Bangladesh-Poetry Initiative, consecutively 4th time arranged this event is focused on getting poets and poetry lovers together to define path for the bilateral development and propagation of the poetic arts in Bangladesh and other countries of the world.
The objective was to hold this summit and its agenda, as a mean for providing the appropriate dialogues, setting and space for discussions centering in the various strategies for developing poetry.
Poet Agnes Meadows from UK, Poet TendoTaijin from Japan, Poet Joyce Ashuntantang from USA, Egypt’s Poet Ibrahim Elmasri, Taiwan’s Poet Miao-yi Tu and Colombia’s Poet Mario Mathor have been awarded with Kathak Literary Award 2018′ for their extraordinary contribution to the world literary.
The other important poets from Bangladesh Aminur Rahman, Asad Chowdhury, Hayat Saif, Mohammad Nurul Huda, Habibullah Sirajee and Jahidul Huq attended the summit.
Md Shahriar Alam MP, State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has graced the occasion as the chief guest. Three books were launched in the programme. These were – 1) Dhaka Anthology of World Poetry 2018 was translated by Poet Aminur Rahman 2) ‘Bishho Shera Samakaleen Sath Kabir Kabita.’ This book was edited by Poet Aminur Rahaman and Bilkis Mansoor and published by Adorn Publication. The atmosphere became melodious and rhythmic with spectacular recitation by the invited poets. Eminent personalities, artists, poets, painters and poetry lovers from the society attended the event.
