Dhaka International Film Festival-2021 begins

The 19th Dhaka International Film Festival officially began through the inaugural programme held at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum on Saturday.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr AK Abdul Momen was present as the Chief Guest, while Indian High Commissioner Vikram K Doraiswami was present as the special guest
at the inaugural ceremony.
In his speech, Dr AK Abdul Momen said, “Forgetting economic-social and cultural differences, films can unite people of all civilisation. It’s a commendable initiative during this time of Coronavirus crisis.”
He expressed his gratitude to the organisers for dedicating the 19th
festival to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Indian High Commissioner Vikram K Doraiswami said, “India has always played a positive role in the development of culture in Bangladesh. Bangladesh has been focused in the National Film
Festival of India this time.”
He also mentioned that India is jointly making a film based on Bangabandhu’s life with Bangladesh. Cultural personalities M Hamid and Mofidul Hoque were also present on the occasion. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy provided the cultural
performances at the programme.
