Dhaka Dynamites tasted first defeat in the ongoing UCB 6th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 cricket as they lost to Rajshahi Kings by 20 runs in their match at Sylhet International Stadium on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first, Rajshahi Kings made a fighting total of 136 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then restricted Dhaka Dynamites to 116 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.
Rajshahi Kings had a painful start as opener Mehidy Hasan Miraz (1) was caught at the cover by Kieron Pollard off Andre Russell when Rajshahi’s total was just two.
Opener Shahriar Nafees and Marshall Ayub repaired the damage contributing together 75 runs for the second wicket partnership before Shahriar was caught at the long-on by Rubel Hossain off Sunil Narine when the team’s score was 77 for the loss of two wickets.
After Shahriar’s dismissal, Marshall Ayub could stay at the crease for a short period as Ayub was caught behind by wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan off Sunil Narine when Rajshahi’s total was 78 for the loss of three wickets.
Ayub notched up a marvelous 45. His 31-ball innings has two sixes and three fours.
Shahriar made 25 from 27 balls featuring three fours.
Then Zakir Hasan and RN ten Doeschate added together 38 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Zakir Hasan was stumped out by wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan off Al Islam when Rajshahi’s score was 116 for the loss of four wickets.
Doeschate was trapped leg before wicket by Sunil Narine when Rajshai’s total was 118 for the loss of five wickets.
Zakir and Doeschate added 20 and 16 runs to the Rajshahi’s total respectively. Narine grabbed three wickets at the cost of 19 runs.
Russell, Shakib Al Hasan and Al Islam picked up one wicket each for 17, 29 and 29 runs respectively.
Later, Nurul Hasan of Dhaka Dynamites was the only batsman, who fought back against the tight and controlled bowling attack of Rajshahi Kings.
Nurul Hasan hit 21 from 14 balls including two fours and a sixer.
Arafat Sunny and Mehidy Hasan Miraz played the key role in wrecking Dhaka Dynamites innings.
Sunny captured three wickets instead of eight runs, while Miraz bagged a couple of wickets at the cost of 18 runs.
Mustafizur Rahman, Kamrul Islam Rabbi and I Udana gave them a good support taking one wicket each for 19, 24 and 36 runs respectively.
Arafat Sunny of Rajshahi Kings was adjudged the Man of the Match.
