Dhaka Dynamites defeated Chittagong Vikings by 45 runs in their Twenty20 cricket match of the 3rd Bangladesh Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
After yesterday’s outcome, Dhaka Dynamites bagged eight points from eight matches while Chittagong Vikings remained with four points from nine matches.
Sent into bat first, Dhaka Dynamites made a fighting total of 121 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then shot out Chittagong Vikings for a paltry 76 off 16.5 overs
Dhaka Dynamites faced an early debacle losing four wickets for 35 runs.
Then Kumar Sangakkara and Mosaddek Hossain contributed 56 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Kumar Sangakkara was caught at the point by Umar Akmal off Shafiul Islam when Dhaka’s score was 91 for the loss of five wickets.
Sangakkara notched up a fine 38 from 36 balls featuring three fours and a six while Mosaddek Hossain made 24 off 29 balls including three fours.
Mosaddek Hossain was caught at the deep mid-wicket by Umar Akmal from a delivery of Shafiul Islam when Dhaka’s total was 91 for the loss of six wickets.
Malkolm Waller was the other notable scorer of Dhaka Dynamites who scored 19 before he was caught at the cover by Umar Akmal off Mohammad Amir when Dhaka’s score was 119 for the loss of eight wickets.
Abul Hasan (4) was caught by TM Dilshan off Mohammad Amir when Dhaka’s total was 113 for the loss of seven wickets.
Earlier, opener Saikat Ali (3) was caught at the mid-on by Tamim Iqbal off Shafiul Islam when Dhaka’s score was 13 for the loss of one wicket.
Yasir Shah (10), the other opener of Dhaka was stumped out wicketkeeper Anamul Haque from a delivery of Asif Hasan.
One-down Mohammad Hafeez (1) was stumped out by Anamul Haque off Mohammad Amir when Dhaka’s total was 14 for the loss of three wickets.
Nasir Hossain (10) was caught behind by Anamul Haque from a delivery of Bilawal Bhatti when Dhaka’s score was 35 for the loss of four wickets.
Mohammad Amir and Shafiul Islam grabbed three wickets each instead of 18 and 21 runs respectively.
Later, Mosharraf Hossain of Dhaka Dynamites played the key role in demolishing Chittagong’s innings with a good support from new sensation Mustafizur Rahman.
Mosharraf Hossain captured four wickets at the cost of 16 runs while Mustafizur Rahman bagged two wickets instead of seven runs. Mosharraf Hossain was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning bowling.
Abul Hasan and Yasir Shah took one wicket each for seven and 14 runs respectively.
The batsmen of Chittagong Vikings failed to build any notable partnership.
Umar Akmal, Bilawal Bhatti and Elias Sunny of Chittagong Vikings could reach double-digit figures scoring 14, 11 and 10 runs respectively.
Mr Extra contributed 14 runs to the Chittagong’s total.
