Dhaka Dynamites became champions of the 4th Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 Cricket defeating Rajshahi Kings by 56 runs in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.
Sent into bat first, Dhaka Dynamites made a fighting total of 159 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then restricted Rajshahi Kings to 103 for the loss of nine wickets in 17.4 overs.
Dhaka Dynamites faced an early debacle losing three wickets for 42 runs.
Then Evin Lewis and Kumar Sangakkara contributed together 41 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Evin Lewis was caught at the short
 fine leg by Kesrick Williams off Farhad Reza when Dhaka’s score was 83 for the loss of four wickets.
Evin Lewis top-scored with 45. He hit eight fours in his 31-ball knock.
After departure of Lewis, Dhaka batsmen failed to build any notable partnership.
Kumar Sangakkara hit a fine 36 from 33 balls featuring two fours and a sixer. Later, Kumar Sangakkara was adjudged the Man of the Match.
He was caught & bowled by Farhad Reza when Dhaka’s total was 155 for the loss of nine wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan failed to shine with the willow as he (12) was bowled by Farhad Reza when Dhaka’s score was 130 for the loss of seven wickets.
Farhad Reza of Rajshahi Kings was his team’s most successful bowler who grabbed three wickets at the cost of 28 runs.
Samit Patel, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Darren Sammy, Afif Hossain and Kesrick Williams took one wicket each for eight, 22, 22, 23 and 36 runs respectively.
Rajshahi Kings had a shaky start as they lost opener Nurul Hasan (5) when Rajshahi’s total was 15. Then opener Mominul Haque and Sabbir Rahman repaired the early damage contributing together 47 runs for the second wicket partnership before Sabbir Rahman was unfortunately run out by Mehedi Maruf when Rajshahi’s score was 62 for the loss of two wickets.
After dismissal of Sabbir Rahman, Mominul Haque could stay at the crease for a short period as he was trapped leg before wicket by Shakib Al Hasan when Rajshahi’s score was 66 for the loss of three wickets. Mominul Haque made 27 from 30 balls with three fours, while Sabbir Rahman scored 26 off 22 balls with two fours.
Then James Franklin (5) was caught by Dwayne Bravo off Sanzamul Islam when Rajshahi’s total was 76 for the loss of four wickets.
After departure of Franklin, Darren Sammy (6) was bowled out by Shakib Al Hasan when Rajshahi’s score was 87 for the loss of five wickets.
Then Samit Patel returned to the pavilion as he (17) was caught by Andre Russell off Sanzamul Islam when Rajshahi’s total was 91 for the loss of six wickets.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz failed to shine with willow as he (1) was caught at the mid-off by Sanzamul Islam off Abu Jayed when Rajshahi’s score was 93 for the loss of seven wickets.
Tail-enders Farhad Reza (2), Kesrick Williams (retired hurt) and Nazmul Islam failed to resist Dhaka’s bowling attack.
Abu Jayed, Sanzamul Islam, Shakib Al Hasan bagged a pair of wickets each for 12, 17 and 30 runs respectively.
