Dhaka Dynamites beat Comilla Victorians by six wickets in their first match of the third Bangladesh Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.
Batting first Comilla Victorians scored 110 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Needing 111 runs to win, Dhaka Dynamites romped home making 112 for the loss of four wickets when they had four balls to spare.
Dhaka Dynamites made a modest start with opener Shamsur Rahman and Nasir Jamshed put on together 29 runs in the opening stand before Shamsur Rahman (19) was caught at the mid-off by Marlon Samuels off Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
After departure of Shamsur Rahman, Nasir Jamshed and Kumar Sangakkara contributing 55 runs in the second wicket stand before Jamshed was trapped leg before wicket by Sunil Narine when Dhaka’s total was 84 for the loss of two wickets.
Nasir Jamshed was his team’s most successful batsman. He made a run-a-ball 44 with eight fours.
Kumar Sangakkara scored 25 from 29 balls while Shamsur Rahman hit 19 from 17 balls including three fours.
The bowlers of Dhaka Dynamites dominated over Comilla batsmen with their tight and controlled bowling attack. As a result they restricted their opponents for a low-scoring total.
