With much hopes and aspirations, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to visit India to hold bilateral talks on a flurry of pending and upcoming issues with her counterpart Narendra Modi in Delhi.
During her visit, it is expected that both the countries will ink at least seven agreements and Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) on water management, science and technology, railways, law, and information and broadcasting and so on.
Foreign Minister Abdul Momen said this in a press conference on Sunday when he unveiled the schedule of Prime Minister’s visit to India from 5-8 September. The press conference was also attended by State Minister for Foreign
Affairs Md Shahriar Alam and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen.
“The meeting will get importance in an array of bilateral issues including trade expansion, investment, assistance in power and energy, public relations, water sharing of the common rivers, water resource management on the river basins, border security, security assistance, cooperation to curb drug smuggling and human trafficking,” Dr Momen said.
Soon after the end of the meeting both the prime ministers will disclose a joint statement on the cooperation, Momen said.
With the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to India with a host of high level delegations including Foreign Minister, Liberation Affairs Minister, Commerce Minister, Railways Minister, Economic Adviser to Prime Minister, Private Industries and Investment Adviser, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, State Minister for Power Energy and Mineral Resources, State Minister for Post, Telecommunication and ICT Minister and State Minister for Water Resources.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be given Guard of Honour in the President Bhaban on September 6 and then she will pay rich tribute to the mausoleum of Gandhi at Rajghat.
Later the bilateral talks between the two leaders will start in the Hydrabad House.
Alongside, the bilateral meeting, Sheikh Hasina will have meeting with Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to award the Mujib Scholarship to the descendants of 200 Indian Armed Forces personnel who were martyred and critically injured during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
She has also a schedule to attend a business event with the participation of the business community of both the countries on September 7 when the business friendly environment of Bangladesh will be showcased to the Indian business to attract investment. She will return on September 8.
Hasina will be visiting India after three years since she last visited in 2019, before the outbreak of the pandemic.
