Staff Reporter: The returning officers allotted electoral symbols to the mayoral candidates for contesting elections to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
Awami League’s candidate of DSCC, Barrister Fazle Noor Tapash got `Boat’, BNP’s Engineer Ishraq Hossain got `Sheaf of Paddy’. Besiedes, Japa’s Saifuddin Ahmed Milan got `plwo’, Islami Andolon’s Abdur Rahman `Hand fan’, NPP’s Baharane Sultan ` Mango’, Congress’s Aktaruzzaman Ayatullah got `Green Coconut’ and Gonofront’s Abdus Samad Sujon got `Fish`.
Apartfrom these, AL’s DNCC mayoral candidate Atiqul Islam got `Boat’, BNP’s Tabith Awal got `Sheaf of Paddy’, CPB’s Sajedul Haque got, `Kaste’ symbol.
Now the candidates can start the election campaign formally in a bid to contest the elections scheduled to be held on January 30.
The campaign will continue till 32 hours before voting starts at 8:00am on January 30.
According to the electoral code of conduct, none will be allowed to carry out formal campaigning before allotment of the electoral symbols.
