Dhaka Education Board and Mymensingh District reached quarterfinals of the 31st ATN Bangla National Hockey Gold Cup Tournament eliminating their rivals at Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Monday.
In the day’s match, Dhaka Education Board outplayed Narayanganj District by 6-1 goals. Prince Lal Samanta and Tahmid Haque struck two goals each, Parimol and Promod scored one each for the winners while Sagor scored the face-saving goal for Narayanganj.
In the day’s other match, Mymensingh District earned a comfortable 6-2 goals victory over Kurigram District. Masuk and Rahat contributed two goals each while Saikat and Himel scored one each for the winners while Faisal and Sayed netted one each for the losers.
Defending champions Faridpur District for the first time was eliminated from the first round of the national meet after conceding 1-3 goals defeat against Chittagong District at the same venue.
Shahidul Islam struck twice and Thunui Marma scored one for Chittagong while Imran netted the lone goal for Farudpur.
In the day’s another match, Thakurgoan defeated Satkhira District by 5-1 goals. Ipu contributed two, Ekka, Rashik and Santosh scored one each for the winners while Saiful scored the all important goal for Satkhira.
