The two-day election of Dhaka Bar Association ended yesterday (Thursday) at 5 pm and the result of the polls is scheduled to be announced tomorrow (Friday).
A total of 9,092 voters exercised their franchise in the two-day election. Of them, 3,911 cast their votes on Wednesday and 5,181 on Thursday. The number of total voters is 15,372.
Three panels are seeking victory in the election. These are Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parishad’s ‘White Panel’, the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya’s ‘Blue Panel and some independent candidates’ ‘Green Panel’. In all 61 candidates filed nomination papers for 25 posts.
The BNP-Jamaat backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya (Blue Penal) swept the Dhaka Bar Association polls last year bagging 18 posts out of 25, including the posts of president and general secretary. On the other hand, the ruling Awami League backed
Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parishad’s White-Panel had secured six posts that time.
