Voting in the two-day polls to elect the office bearers for 2019-2020 of Dhaka Bar Association, kicks off today (Wednesday).
Seven thousand eight hundred ninety seven voters are expected to cast their vote, starting from 9 am and that ends at 5 pm with one-hour break. A total of 57 candidates will vie for 27 posts.
Pro-Awami League Sammilito Ainjibi Samannay Parishad candidates will contest under White Panel while pro-BNP-Jamaat candidates takes part under the Blue Panel.
Gazi Md Shah Alam will vie for the posts of president while Md Habibur Rahman, for senior vice president, Md Jahangir Hossain Dulal, vice president and Md Asaduzzaman Khan (Rochi) for general
secretary from the White Panel. From the Blue Panel, Md Iqbal Hossain will contest for the posts of president while Abdus Salam Dewan for senior vice president, AR Mizanur Rahman for vice president and Md Hossain Ali Khan Hasan for general secretary.
Earlier on January 31, the election schedule was declared.
Chief Election Commissioner Advocate Mokhlesur Rahman Badal said 20 lawyers have been assigned as election commissioners to arrange the election in peaceful manner.
