Dhaka-Assam Friendly Handball tournament begins today

The Index Dhaka-Assam Friendly Handball tournament begins today (Wednesday) at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in the city.
On the day, Dhaka Divisional handball team takes on visiting Assam Handball team in the first match of the tournament that kicks off at 4.45 pm.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder is expected to inaugurate the meet as the chief guest.
This is the first time Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) invited Assam handball team to play the friendly series.
The visiting side will play their second match against Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party on Thursday (October 5), the third match against Police Handball team on Saturday (October 6) and again meet with Ansar and VDP in the fourth and final match on October 7, said BHF general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor.
Kohinoor hoped, however, this series they would be able to select good players for the upcoming tournaments.
Tournament sponsors Index Group, Walton Group and the Blazer BD have come forward to make the series a success.
In this regards, a press conference was held on Tuesday at BHF office room to provide all the details of the meet.
BHF general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Walton operative director head of games and sports FM Iqbal Bin Anwar, BHF treasurer and tournament committee’s secretary Jahangir Hossain were present, among others, on the occasion.
