The management of Dhaka Arban Co-operative Bank Ltd has fled away taking about Tk 4 crore which were taken from hundreds of customers showing high rate of interest for saving money at Gafargaon under Mymensingh recently .
The subscribers are now helpless and they are moving to the door of public representatives and administration to get back their money. The sufferers subscribers formed a human chain in front of local press-club on Sunday noon.
Some customers informed that Dhaka Arban Co-operative Bank Ltd. started their activities at Gafargaon on April,2009 showing the head office at Senpara Porbata area in Mirpur , Dhaka . Manager -1, Md. Walidul Islam Manager -2 Shariful Hossain Imon opened the branch office at the second floor of Shaheed Belal Plaza on the road of the town.
Managing Director Lutfur Rahman and General Secretary Rasel appointed some officers taking Tk 5 lakh as security . They collected about Tk 5 cr from the people of this area but a few month ago they took away all papers from the office and stopped coming to the office.
Shafiqul Islam, a businessman informed that he kept Tk 10 lakh in this bank by selling land to get more interest.
Hundreds of people of the upazila kept saving money in the hope of getting much profit. Mintu,Mahmuda Khatun, Bilkis Akter, Harun-or-Rashid kept Tk about 4 cr in Dhaka Arban Bank Ltd.
They also informed that both managers bought flat in Mymensingh and Kishoregonj overnight with their money. They left Gafargaon and some cheats of this area are connected with this . The bank found locked.
Upazila Co-operative Officer Jahangir Alam Khan informed that there was no legal document on running this bank. The higher authority did not take any step in this matter.
