Dhaka Abahani Limited thrashed City Club by 111 runs in their match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) Ground-3 in Savar on Monday.
Sent into bat first, Dhaka Abahani Limited piled up a mammoth total of 309 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 50 overs and then shot out City Club for 198 off 42 overs.
Fourth-down Shamim Hossain of Abahani Limited remained unbeaten with 108. His 66-ball innings was laced with 13 fours and four sixes.
Number-7 batter Jaker Ali remained unbeaten with 65. His 59-ball knock was decorated with three sixes and four fours.
One-down Towhid Hridoy notched up a fine 46. He hit five fours in his 71-ball innings.
Opener Mohammad Naim hit a polished 37. His 51-ball knock saw six fours.
Besides, Mosaddek Hossain added 24 runs to the Abahani Limited total.
Jawad Royen of City Club bagged two wickets at the cost of 33 runs, while Moinul Islam, Moinul and Abdul Halim took one wicket each conceding 26, 59 and 86 runs respectively.
Later, Moinul Islam and Ashik-Ul-Alam Naem were the two batters of City Club, who shone with the willow.
Moinul Islam hit a superb 74. His 71-ball innings was ornamented with eight fours and two sixes.
Ashik-Ul-Alam knocked a sedate 67. His 94-ball innings had four fours and a sixer.
Arafat Sunny of Dhaka Abahani Limited claimed five wickets in the space of 33 runs. Arafat Sunny was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
Mohammad Saifuddin bagged a pair of wickets instead of 35 runs.
Tanvir Islam and Mosaddek Hossain took one wicket each for 47 and 53 runs respectively.
