Federation Cup Football: Dhaka Abahani face Sheikh Jamal in semi today

Dhaka Abahani Limited will face Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited in the second semi-final of the Walton Federation Cup Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today. The match kicks-off at 7.15 pm.
Defending champions Dhaka Abahani Limited clinched the Federation Cup for ninth times.
On the other hand, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited appeared in the country’s football in the year 2010. After their arrival, they emerged as the champions of the Federation Cup for three times. Sheikh Jamal also became runners-up for two times in the Federation Cup.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited started their Federation Cup with a happy note defeating Farashganj Sporting Club by three goals to nil in their Group-B match. They edged past Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by 4-1 goals in the tie-breaker of their second and last Group-B match.
Sheikh Jamal moved into the semi-final beating Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited in the quarter-final by a solitary goal.
Manager of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited Anwarul Karim Helal said, ” Our target is to play in the final.
Dhaka Abahani Limited are good side. The match against them will be competitive. Hoping that our team will play in the final keeping their consistency.”
Dhaka Abahani Limited started their Federation Cup mission with an unhappy note.
They made a 1-1 draw with newcomers Saif Sporting Club in their Group-A match. Then they defeated Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra in their second Group-A match and reached the quarter-final.
Later, Dhaka Abahani Limited beat Brothers Union Limited in the quarter-final and reached the place of last four.
Manager of Dhaka Abahani Limited Satyajit Das Rupu said, ” Sheikh Jamal are strong opponents. Hoping that our players move in the final by beating them.”
